Everyone who uses makeup has a beauty tool that they absolutely need for their routine.
Even if you’re not looking to have a full glam day, chances are you use that tool for every look.
For many makeup lovers, the Beauty Blender (or one of its many knockoffs) is essential in applying foundation, blending out concealer, and more.
If you use a Beauty Blender or other sponge for makeup application, you know that it applies your makeup like a dream.
But a huge issue with this product – as great as it is – is that it absorbs a lot of makeup.
So, after a few uses, your beautiful, pink Beauty Blender is the color of your foundation, concealer, and/or bronzer.
But on Twitter user has shared a hack that has beauty lovers all over freaking out!
According to Beauty Blender’s official site, you can clean a Beauty Blender two ways. For the first option, you’d purchase their $18 5oz. cleanser (that is after paying $20 for the sponge itself).
Pour 4 tbsp. of liquid blendercleanser® into a bowl. Submerge sponge under cold water. Squeeze and compress gently, working into a lather. Pressing the sponge releases oxygen allowing liquid blendercleanser® in. To avoid splits, snags, rips or tears squeeze delicately, avoiding twisting or pinching. Then rinse with cold water and dry!
If you’re not looking to spend $18 just to clean this sponge, you can opt for this 1-minute hack that is basically free (unless you don’t own soap).
19-year-old Julianna Asouzu shared a hack she learned on Twitter and it has totally blown up.
She posted a video on March 27, 2018 and it has since been viewed over 3.4 million times!
Simply, she tested putting her sponges in water and microwaving them for 1-minute. Apparently, it is the perfect way to clean these makeup sponges!
When speaking with BuzzFeed, Juliana said:
“A few days ago, I was scrolling through Instagram, and I saw the page that came up with the idea,” she said. “Unfortunately I can’t remember what the page was called, but I was extremely fascinated when I saw it.”
She was amazed to find out that the 1-minute hack was truly succesful. She had to share it with her Twitter followers and they also needed to see for themselves if it worked.
This hack has been floating around Twitter and Instagram for a while now.
All you need to do is full a cup with soap and water, then place the sponge inside and microwave it for 1 minute.
It is important to remember the water step, as some folks on the internet missed that part and learned their lesson the hard way.

Rather than buying expensive cleansers or scrubbing your sponges with soap, you can try this hack!
