From Target to tired jokes, there are things you can always count on white people to love. Now, that doesn’t mean ONLY white people love these things or ALL white people love these things, but there’s plenty of truth here to give you a good chuckle.
And no, it’s not really about ethnicity, but rather a lighthearted look at some things we hear far too often. And if you’re somehow offended instead of amused, just remember that sometimes white people need to lighten up.
Here are some things “white people love,” according to Twitter, that might have you saying “guilty as charged”!
1. New Year’s jokes
No one knows why this NYE joke survives, but that doesn’t stop us from saying it every December 31st!
2. Dreading the reciept
Chances are you know how much you ate and drank and the prices are right there, but that doesn’t stop people from looking at a check like it’s going to contain some big surprise.
3. Commenting on lines
For some reason, it feels good to know you beat the rush.
4. Asking for “autographs”
How many times have you had to keep yourself from rolling your eyes at this one?
5. Pointing things out for no reason
Road trips are a running commentary on everything you pass. Why? No one knows.
6. Begging you to take them with you
Is any vacation complete without being asked to pack a human in your suitcase?
7. Tired sayings
Do people really still say this?
8. Being sarcastic
I think we can declare this no longer clever now that smartphones have been around over a decade.
9. Not understanding light and pupils
Your eyes don’t change color. Pupils dialate to make eyes look darker and sunlight might change the way you see your eye color, but your eyes are the same color now as they were a few hours ago.
10. Target
While many people insist this started with Oprah, it sure has become a thing that white people love saying.
11. Creating moments
If you’re having fun, do you really need to point it out? Apparently some people do.
12. Making bathroom jokes
Let’s face it, no one likes to be told they spent too long in the bathroom.
13. Cold things when it’s cold
To be fair, is there ever a wrong time for ice cream or froyo?
14. “Sneaking” by ya
Apparently, we like to give people fair warning of all of our movements.
15. Pretending the rain is a car wash
It’s not going to leave your car gleaming, but sometimes a good rainstorm can save you a trip to the car wash after a dusty road trip. Wait, is that another thing white people love?
16. Tired, old slang
Often said when stepping back to admire one’s handywork.
17. Rocking and rolling
We’re not sure why this one is both so ridiculous and yet hits so close to home. But now you’re sure to get a good laugh the next time someone says it (or you’re tempted to say it yourself).
18. More Target
What is it with Target? Granted, this is everyone’s favorite place to spend more money than intended.
19. Elevator talk
Guilty as charged. For some reason we feel compelled to comment on a full elevator.
20. Looking forward to leftovers
No matter how full you are, it’s hard not to imagine reheating that delicious dinner the next day.
21. Commenting on lines
Giving a running commentary while standing in line seems to be a favorite pasttime for some.
22. Discovering hardwood floors
We’re not sure why we find this so funny, but it’s certainly true that people get excited when they find hardwood floors under their carpet. However, there’s not much else that might be under there.
23. Asking people to do their yardwork
Same goes for seeing people wash their cars. Spoiler: no one is coming to do yours next.
24. Commenting on calories
We’re not sure why people feel so compelled to report on their calorie intake and burn, but it’s certainly a phenomenon that’s becoming more common.
25. Making people pose for photos
Has this ever resulted in a truly good photo where everyone looks like they naturally get along?
26. Perfecting the high-five
This one got a lot of comments from people who realized that they can’t stop trying to get the best high-five possible out of their friends.
27. Pontificating on the weather
People love talking about what they read in the latest weather report.
28. Claiming to be part Native American
Ouch, too true!
29. Only remembering parts of movies
You probably watched the whole thing, you just don’t remember.
30. Remarking that the world is a small place
Why can’t we stop ourselves from saying this?
31. Joking about how long things take
Yet another eye-roller that most of us are guilty of saying.
32. Claiming things are free
It’s never funny, and the cashier has probably heard it a thousand times already that day, but for some reason we feel compelled to say it.
33. Saying “good times”
Yet another instance in which we can’t help but memorialize the moment.
34. Preparing for their dog’s jealousy
To be fair, you know you’re in for a good sniffing when you get home if you pet another dog.
35. Sharing memes
Most of the people who took part in the “white people love” meme were white. It’s always good when people have a sense of humor about themselves and the world around them.
