When we think of a carver, most of us think of someone who works with wood. This tough material makes an excellent medium for art, but some artists have gotten much more creative in their canvas choices.
One such artist is Daniele Barresi, an Australian man who takes carving to a whole new level. Rather than working on giant blocks of wood, Baressi has chosen to work with fruits and vegetables. The results are phenomenal.
Once it is finished, Baressi’s sculptures look too good to eat. He proudly shares his passion for the unique art that he creates.
“When I touch my knife, my mind gives up to the heart and transmits directly to the hands, giving different forms to the decorations. It’s like magic.”
These carvings are amazing, but don’t take our word for it. Here are just a few of the mesmerizing pieces, so you can see for yourself how stunning they really are.
Melon Madness
The details in this watermelon sculpture are almost unbelievable. Baressi is clearly talented. It would be hard to carve the melon up for a meal after seeing this.
Avocado Art
You might already think avocados are beautiful, but you haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen this one. This is a true masterpiece.
Ginger And Gingerbread
Ginger roots are not very easy on the eyes. They look kind of dull, which is surprising since their taste is the total opposite. Baressi shows the root’s true nature with his exquisite sculpting.
Cannoli Art
These delicious snacks would look mouth-watering enough without the elaborate detail. The masterfully carved fruit only makes it look more amazing. Would you eat one?
Spooky Stuff
If you’ve never thought about avocado Halloween decorations, you’ll be thrilled to see this amazing idea. Now even spooky treats look amazing. The best part is this Halloween snack is actually good for you.
Have Your Cake
You’ve heard of avocado roses, right? Well this artist is taking the food rose to a whole new level. This cake is completely to die for.
What A Pair
Baressi has done it again. It is amazing how much work goes into each piece of fruit. The multiple dimensions created by the carving is SUPER impressive.
Sweet Potato Paradise
The artist has turned this sweet potato into a fantastical paradise. The flowers might be all orange, but you can see the vibrance in each one. It really resembles a landscape.
So Elaborate
This avocado looks like it belongs in a museum. It is just so beautiful and ornate! I wonder how Baressi ever learned the patience to do this.
Melon Me
What’s even more incredible is how he makes such great use of the fruit. The artist uses the natural color change that comes from the parts of the fruit to guide his work, keeping a natural variation of hues in the artwork.
Green Goodness
This piece is so well done, it is hard to believe it is an actual piece of fruit. It must be so wonderful to work on a live canvas. Seriously, how could you eat these sculptures?
No Way
Would you believe me if I told you this was made from a white radish? Fruits and vegetables already look mouth-watering. Baressi’s work, however, cranks it up a notch.
Total Talent
Any host would be lucky to have one of these sculptures at their event. Especially if the main treat is getting to eat the sculpture afterward. I wonder if the artist is ever hired for something like that.
Check Out This Cheese
This cheese is an absolute masterpiece. It brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, “Don’t cut the cheese.” After all, who could destroy a sculpture like this??
Perfect Pumpkin
This pumpkin is simply a work of art. It must have taken hours to create. However long it took, the result was well worth the wait.
These food sculptures are astonishingly good. Daniele Barresi is a master of food carving, and his work is sure to be revered all around the world.
