A new recipe that has been circulating the web that has this potential is a recipe for a bacon-wrapped turkey. Reported to take the sometimes dry turkey flavor to a juicier, crispier dish.

“Delicious. I chopped sage and parsley into softened butter and refrigerated it. I put small pats of the herb butter under the skin. The bacon added more flavor, there was none of the bacon left and barely any turkey.” 5 Star Review from Spring Waldron on All Recipes

For this recipe, there are a few pieces of equipment needed in order to take this delicious recipe from your device to the dinner table.

“4 Reasons a Bacon-Wrapped Turkey Rocks

  1. No Salting, no brining, and no basting required.
  2. Crispy bacon “skin” looks and tastes amazing.
  3. Bacon keeps the turkey meat moist.
  4. You can impress your guests with little effort.”

Next is the fun part- creating this savory dish for your loved ones.

The first step is to preheat the oven to 375°. While the oven heats up chop up the onion and rinse the turkey with cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

Then, stuff the turkey’s cavity with the bunches of thyme, rosemary, and cut onion. Using the twine tie the legs together and tuck in the wings.

Next, melt 1/2 cup of softened butter and combine with seasonings in a medium-sized bowl, stirring until thoroughly mixed. Once complete spread the mixture over the entire turkey.

Now it’s time to place the turkey into the roasting pan and begin adding the strips of bacon on the turkey, weaving the slices of bacon in and out until fully covered.

“If you want the breast meat, super moist, roast your turkey breast side down! I have been doing this for years! Can’t be beat!” Comment by Blue Trumpet on Delish

Then place your bacon-wrapped turkey in the oven and bake for three hours. Be sure to check the turkey as it cooks and remove it when the temperature of the turkey’s thigh reaches 165°.

Also, be sure to check the bacon after two hours, and if it gets too dark cover it with foil.

Editor’s tip: you can also peel the bacon off after about 45 minutes of baking and chop it up to use as a scrumptious appetizer or as an ingredient in a delicious side. If you do, just make sure to cover the turkey over with foil to bake for the remaining time. You can remove the foil for the last 15 minutes to get a nice brown on the turkey.
