If you are a cat owner, then you know that cats tend to shed a lot of fur. It’s pretty normal.
Most owners clean up that fallen fur with a vacuum, while other owners might get a bit more creative with it.
If you are Ryo Yamazaki, you might take said fur and turn it into a hat.
At first, he thought it’d be funny to fashion it into a Trump-esque combover.
“It all started when Donald Trump was running for office as U.S. president and the hashtag ‘TrumpYourCat’ was trending in the U.S.,” Ryo shared. “I thought I might as well give it a go.”
As it then became an online trend, Ryo and his wife, Hiromi, began to make tons of caps for their three Scottish Folds: Nyaa, Maru, and Mugi.
Two years later, they have produced over 100 hats… all made completely out of their own cats’ hair.
Whether or not the cats actually like it, well, we don’t know. They probably just assume it’s weird or… an extension of themselves.
Ryo is also a photographer and with an idea so niche and ground-breaking, he could really be changing the fashion world forever with this new line.
We’re used to seeing photos of cats in funny positions, posing next to babies or other animals, but this is a whole new level of cat content that the internet didn’t even know it needed.
Are we exploiting these cats? Maybe. But it’s not harmful. Suddenly, a cat owner has never been so excited about his cat’s shedding.
It help’s that Ryo’s a fantastic photographer who has really managed to capture some quite classy, high-quality pictures of his “models.”
What do you think? Is this a new trend or is it degrading? Do we want cat hats for humans?
