Dogs are true caretakers and Zoey is no exception.

After Pat Pollifrone of Cheatham County, Tennessee found a baby deer in his yard he had no idea the impact it would have on his dog, Zoey. The Nashville musician found the fawn sick and alone and tried to return it to the woods. However, the next day, the fawn was back on his driveway and Zoey had gladly accepted her new role as caretaker.

Pat and his family lovingly named the fawn, Bambi, and did everything they could to make her happy and comfortable.

When the mama deer didn’t return, Zoey happily stepped in to make sure the baby deer was feeling loved by staying beside her and licking her. The sweet moments were caught on video.

Pat mentioned on social media that he was helping the baby deer through some health issues.

“If she chooses to go back into the wild, she is free to do so. Just helping the critter get on her feet. She has been drinking goat milk and walking around the yard today, and the infection in her eye is looking a lot better after pulling the ticks and applying Neosporin.” – Pat Pollifrone

Pat was blown away by the way Zoey cared for the fawn.

Pat shared another post two days later showing his sweet dog cuddling beside the baby deer. The look on Zoey’s face is one of pure happiness. She is not bothered at all that this baby is a deer. It looks as though she can sense the fawn needs help.

Pollifrone contacted several animal rescues to get some help for Bambi. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to secure a place for her. According to his post, they weren’t “taking any newbies.” When he tried to contact the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency he posted that it was “tough to get ahold of.
