People give their dogs up for adoption for all sorts of reasons, they can be too expensive, too much to handle, they’re moving- just to name a few. Life happens and some excuses are ok. But there is never a reason to simply abandon a dog. This exact scenario took place in England and was captured on video and it went viral.

This man pulls up in his vehicle to a side street in a British neighborhood. He unloads all the dog’s belongings into the street and attempts to distract the dog so that he can drive off. The poor animal doesn’t know what is happening, and as his owner sits in his car, he desperately paces and paws at the door to be let back in. Then, the first opportunity the dog moves, the man speeds away, leaving the pup heartbroken.

The story made the news all over the world and thankfully got the attention of the RSPCA almost immediately. And after all that time in the public eye, the dog from the video, named Snoop, has been adopted!

“One evening I was watching the news when Snoop’s story came on,” says Laurence Squire, the lucky man who got to take Snoop home. “What happened to him was shocking. and it was clear from the footage- in the way he tried to get back into the car- that he was a loyal dog.”

Rachel Butler, an RSPCA spokesperson, said that Snoop seemed to be completely comfortable in his new home, since seeing him on a recent home visit. Rescuers from the RSPCA said that he is prone to separation anxiety, another common reason for giving up a pet since in serious cases, it can be a danger to homes and possibly owner. But this couldn’t have been a more perfect match for Snoop since Squire works from home and the pair are able to spend most of their time together.

“I though he seemed like the perfect for me and that I could offer him the home he deserved,” Squire said. “As soon as he came into the house for the first time, he jumped on the sofa and it as though he decided that was the space for him! He loves to lie on the back of the sofa and if I put the fire on, he will curl up in front of it.” Butler of the RSPCA is convinced that Snoop is now living like a king. “The love and attention he is getting now from Laurence is wonderful.”
