There have been a lot of singers in talent shows who have performed covers of Whitney Houston songs.
One of the most covered songs was Whitney Houston’s rendition of “I Will Always Love You”. Her version debuted in 1992 at number 40 on the Billboard charts and was the number one song for 14 weeks.
Since then, it has been covered by hundreds of singers, including LeAnn Rimes, Rik Waller, and even Beyonce.
Even in talent shows the song is popular. Jessica Sanchez sang an unbelievable cover on America Idol, Ashly Williams performed an emotional rendition on The X Factor, and the Laura Kamhuber performance on The Voice Kids Germany was the most watched YouTube video of an Austrian artist.
One of the most unique renditions of this classic song comes from an unexpected source.
On Belgium’s Got Talent, Lady Xena comes out on stage, prepared to display her talent. And the judges are excited!
Oh, did I mention Lady Xena is a dog? A pit bull, to be exact.
Her parents, Mick and Daphnee, always believed Lady Xena understood music. And she clearly showed them she did when she was about 12 weeks old. The three of them were in a cafe one day when “I Will Always Love You” played on the radio. Lady Xena began to cry and howl with the song.
Her parents thought it was weird at first but they’ve warmed to the idea.
In fact, they loved the idea of Lady Xena singing so much that they entered her on Belgium’s Got Talent.
Her performance was shaky at first. It was obvious she wasn’t used to being in front of the audience. But pretty soon. she couldn’t help but sing along. And when she started, she couldn’t stop! She even sang the high notes.
Few people know this, not even most dog parents, but dogs really do respond positively to music.
Many vets turn to music therapy to help reduce anxiety, lower heart rate and respiration, and alleviate certain behavioral challenges in pets (such as chronic barking).”
Music sends sound waves processed by the brain and creates a response in animals (i.e., dogs) that leads to physiological changes. Loud noises create an increase in adrenalin while gentle sounds relax the nervous system.
Did you know even animal clinics and animals shelters use music to relax the dogs and animals in their facilities?
They use music to relieve stressful or anxious feelings the animals may have within minutes. Vets also use music therapy and play gentle music right before an animal has to go through surgery. It relaxes them successfully and surgeries are performed without a hitch.
But why do dogs howl to music and some certain songs?
Dogs howl as a form of communication with other dogs. And when they howl when music is being displayed, it’s not because they don’t like the song. It’s most likely because the high notes or the song remind them of another dog howling. So they respond the same way.
Some people also think dogs howl when songs are played because they don’t like it or it’s hurting their ears. If that’s the case, then your dogs will leave the room or the area where the song is played.
