You’ve probably heard the rave reviews about the Dyson Airwrap, an innovative hair tool that gives hair luscious curls. This new product is said to be the latest and greatest in hair technology because it combines powerful suction and heat control to get those envy-worthy waves so many of us want.

According to Dyson, this brand new aerodynamic technology took six years to perfect. Imagine the countless hours of research, experimentation and trial and error this took!

However, as with anything that claims to be the best in the market, this styler is not cheap! With a price tag of $549.99, many of us settled with admiring the before and after pictures from afar. That is until some people started to get a little creative with a DIY hack that has the same exact results as this expensive hair tool.

A Chinese woman posted a short clip of herself getting the same gorgeous curls with only two simple tools: an ordinary hair dryer and an empty plastic bottle.

You can see in the video that the curls are accomplished simply by placing the hair inside the plastic bottle and then pressing the dryer through a small hole in the side. We can all see that it clearly creates the same look as the Dyson Airwrap. Check out the video to see for yourself just how incredible these results are!

However, one thing that nobody can account for (since this is a DIY hack) is just how safe this option is. As one person pointed out, the plastic bottles aren’t exactly equipped to withstand the extreme temperatures put off by the hair dyer.

Of course, people from around the world were more than ready to give this hack a shot and thus the #blowthebottlechallenge was born. Even big names are jumping on board with this Instagram trend. Celebrity hair and makeup artist, Olivia Smalley was among the many to post a video fo herself trying this method.

Even this seasoned hair stylist is clearly blown away by the results. However, Smalley does warn against using bottles with thin plastic as it could melt into your hair. She also says that spritzing your hair with water or some other form of heat protectant can help shield your hair from the damaging temperatures.

Another user went so far as to show the potentially dangerous results of this hack. As you can see, the bottle is partially burned which could pose a huge risk to users. This may be the cheaper option, but it’s definitely something you want to be careful doing.

Dyson Airway may be a great tool, but this DIY hack is pretty incredible, too! If you decide to try it for yourself, remember the potential dangers and do so at your own risk.
