They say a dog is a man’s best friend, but to some people this connection means even more than that. A dog is a part of the family, and he is irreplaceable. That’s how one man felt about his dog, and he wasn’t willing to let anything get in the way of their friendship.
An unnamed man from Roanoke, Virginia, was given a tough decision. He lived alone with his beagle, Molly. He had been dating a girl for four years, and he thought they made a good match. He wanted his girlfriend to move in with him, so he extended the offer.
Much to the man’s surprise, the girl was not grateful for the invite. Instead, she gave him an impossible ultimatum: she would only move in with him if he got rid of his dog.
Many of us are attracted to people who treat animals well. How a person treats an animal says a lot about their character, like whether or not they have sympathy for other beings. There are plenty of women who would love to move in with their boyfriend and his dog, but not this one.
We may never know why the woman was unwilling to live with the sweet beagle. Perhaps she was jealous of how close the man and his dog were. Or perhaps she didn’t want to be burdened with the responsibility of caring for another being. Whatever the reason was, this girl was certainly proving that she wasn’t the open-hearted, loving woman of the man’s fantasy.
Whether this decision was an easy one or a hard one, we may never know. It could be that the man spent hours laying awake at night deciding what he should do, or it could be that he knew his plan of action instantly. When he did decide to act, he definitely acted with humor.
The man took to the internet to solve his problems. He posted an ad on Craigslist, looking for someone to take in the being that was causing him so much trouble. His post is absolutely perfect.
“My girlfriend does not like my beagle Molly. SO I have to re-home her. She is a purebred from a wealthy area and I have had her 4 years. She likes to play games. Not totally trained. Has long hair so she’s a little high maintenance, especially the nails, but she loves having them done.
Stays up all night yapping but sleeps while I work. Only eats the best, most expensive food. Will NEVER greet you at the door after a long day or give you unconditional love when you’re down. Does not bite but she can be mean as hell!
So… anyone interested in my 30-year-old, selfish, wicked, gold-digging girlfriend? Come and get her! Me and my dog want her re-homed ASAP!”
This is the best response ever to a totally difficult situation. Not only did this man preserve the sacred bond between himself and his dog, but he spared himself from years of headaches with someone who did not share the same core values as him.
After all, if she couldn’t even compromise on living with a dog that he had owned for years, what chance did the couple stand of being able to reach a compromise on bigger decisions?
This man made the right choice, and he announced his decision in a totally epic way. I’m sure the ex-girlfriend was embarrassed when she saw the post for herself.
Karma definitely exists in this world. When we make selfish decisions, that negative energy circles back to us. This girl threatened to leave if her boyfriend didn’t get rid of his dog, so he made her exit a little easier. Be careful what you wish for.
