Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend a night in Griffindor Tower? To whisper a password like “flibbertigibbet” and enter the common room before heading off to the dorms?

Well, you don’t have to wonder if you take a trip to Yorkshire, England.

Designer Carol Cavendish’s family farm offers themed cottage stays in a development called North Shire. One of those accommodations includes a cottage called “The Dorm,” which is a replica of Griffindor Tower.

“I loved the idea of creating a fairy tale place where people could escape the stresses of life. I saw a niche in the market that nobody else was doing,” Cavendish told OpenAir Business.

When you enter The Dorm Room Cottage you’ll feel like you’ve been whisked away to the wizarding world.

The living room area offers tent-like ceilings, a cozy fireplace, and comfy burgundy couches that look like it’s straight off the movie set.

The space sleeps six in six full-size single four-poster beds separated by gorgeous Griffindor-colored curtains. You’ll see a familiar face when you enter the bathroom as you spot a siren window that looks just like the stained glass window in Hogwarts’ fifth-floor prefects’ bathroom.

The bathroom also features a gorgeous gold arched mirror that looks like the Mirror of Erised, golden sea shell sinks, a clear glass shower, and funky golden hand fixtures to hold your soap.

There’s also a kitchen with a wooden table and highback chairs reminiscent of the professors’ chairs in The Great Hall.

It includes an under-counter fridge/freezer, dual hob, and microwave/oven. It’s also stocked with crockery, utensils, and glassware.

“Today, when there’s so much fear around the pandemic, people are looking for ways they can step back from reality for a short time and be comforted in a world of make-believe, which is just what The Dorm aims to do, along with our other accommodation,” Cavendish told Mugglenet.com.

And that’s not the only wizard school-themed cottage on site.

There’s also the Ground Keeper’s Cottage, which is supposed to look like Hagrid’s hut.

North Shire also features the “Shire House,” which is Lord of the Rings inspired, Le Petit Chateau which is a fairytale space dedicated to fantasy books, as well as a site called the Shepherd’s Huts.

“As a child I was obsessed with books by Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton’s Faraway Tree stories, and now I am just as in love with the Potter books and Tolkien. The fairytale escapism makes me so happy. I was very dyslexic and I think I pushed more to learn to read because of it – this is just one demonstration of my strong willed nature!” Cavendish said.

North Shire also accommodates caravans and camper vans and hosts weddings and other events.

So, many magical memories are made at North Shire.

“Everything is just so special and spectacular. I am incredibly proud,” Cavendish said.

Cavendish, her partner Carl, and their three children live in this fantastical world of her own creation year-round.

“I’m sure my kids are surprised when they visit their friends’ houses and realize it’s not normal to live in a fairy tale!” she told YorkshireLive.
