Many people enjoy having a brother or sister, as they feel like they always have someone to rely on, someone who understands them, and someone they can turn to. This is often especially true for identical twins, who have their own unique personalities but can share a lot with one another, always looking out for each other.
Sometimes, identical twins choose to follow totally different paths through life, ending up in different jobs and leading completely separate lives. Other times, they end up following similar paths, and in the case of Tori Howard and her sister Tara Drinkard, they even end up working at the same place!
These two twins, aged 26, work together as nurses at the Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, Georgia, after both studying and graduating side by side.
Howard works as an NICU nurse, while Drinkard works as a nurse for labor and delivery. This means that despite working in the same facility, they rarely actually work together as they have quite different roles and responsibilities.
For one very special birth, however, the pair were put together and asked to help deliver a set of identical twin girls, just like them!
They were invited onto Good Morning America to share their story, with Howard explaining, “For every c-section that labor and delivery does, we have one NICU nurse that goes because c-sections are higher risk.”
This meant that Howard and Drinkward would be working together to deliver the twins.
Howard said she was “excited” to be working alongside her sister, but said she hadn’t even paid any special attention to the fact that they were twins helping to deliver twins.

Brannan and Rebecca Williams, the expecting parents, were also excited to see twin girls working to help them welcome their baby girls, Addison and Emma, into the world.
Speaking to GMA, Brannan said, “It was pretty neat because Tara took care of Becca in the labor and delivery room and Tori was taking care of Emma in the NICU.”
Little Addison was born first, with Emma coming into the world just a few minutes later. In the case of Howard and Drinkard, Howard was born first, with her sister being delivered just a minute later.
Happy mom Rebecca Williams says she’ll be telling the story of this birth, and the wonderful twin nurses involved, for many years to come, and looks forward to sharing it with her girls as they get older too.
The babies themselves are doing fine. They were born a little early at just 32 weeks and 6 days and have had to spend some time in the NICU, but are now ready to head home with their mom and dad. We’re sure that when they’re a little older, they’ll be intrigued to hear about the two twin nurses who helped to bring them into the world.
