If you don’t know her yet, you have been missing out. Jessica Sanchez is the 16-year-old who brought all American Idol fans to the edge of their seats. Her stay on the show can be summarized as a series of standing ovations, I’m not even exaggerating. Dig in.

Finale Performance

In the season finale of the 11th season, Jessica performed Celine Dion’s Prayer in a breathtaking performance that sent ripples through Twitter. You would be forgiven for thinking she won the finale just by looking at viewers’ live responses, but sadly she did not. Against mine and many people’s wishes, that title went to the talented Philip Philips. We all know who the real winner here was. Watch it for yourself to see!

Top 10 Performance

Any Billy Joel fans here? In the season’s top 10 performance, Sanchez, in a beautiful black dress, gave a flawless performance of Billy’s Everybody Has a Dream. Even before she was done performing, the studio audience was up on their feet screaming in praise and clapping away. If you’ve not yet heard her sing yet, here’s your chance.

Top 4 Performance

Magic? I don’t know, but hearing Jessica do justice to Jennifer Holiday’s And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going will leave you changed forever. This top 4 act earned her a standing ovation and an easy spot in the next round. And that’s not just my biased opinion. She did such a great job pouring her heart on stage that Jennifer Holiday joined her for a duet performance of the same song later in the show. Watch it for yourself.

Top 3 Performance

It was risky picking a song by one of the judges, Aerosmith, but she pulled it off perfectly. Jessica went for I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing by Aerosmith in the top 3 stage to earn herself a spot in the finale. It’s an honor when the original writer of a song approves of your performance. Don’t take my word for it. Judge for yourself.

Top 7 Performance

For the season’s top 7 performance, she went with Stuttering by Jazmine Sullivan. Wearing a Jad Ghandour dress and sitting on top of a white grand piano, Jessica bled her heart out on stage. This was my personal favorite. The screams and chants seem to indicate it was a favorite for many.

Top 6 Performance

For her top 6 performance on American Idol, Jessica paid tribute to Luther Vandross with a heartwarming performance of Dance With My Father. Luther Vandross would be proud. She really did it justice. Watch it here.

Top 9 Performance

We all know Beyonce, and we all know there are very few people who could give her a run for her money. Adele comes close, but not close enough. Then there’s this performance. Sanchez, for her top 9 performance, took on the weighty task of Beyonce’s Sweet Dreams and did it perfectly. It will make your day.

Another amazing performance

Jessica Sanchez in an out-of-character move ditched the pianos and harps and exchanged them in for bass guitars and drums. This performance saw her perform Bohemian Rhapsody, a piece by Queen. The stage lit up as she dominated the mic and sprinkled a few high notes in her usual brilliant fashion. Watch it here.

Top 3 Performance

This was a favorite for many. Bringing back memories of Michael Jackson, back when he was in the Jackson 5, Jessica took on I’ll Be There by the Jackson 5. Don’t look for a reason to watch it, just watch it. You won’t regret it.

Finale Duet (Top 2)

I lied before. This one is actually my personal favorite. Remember when Sanchez performed And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going by Jennifer Holiday? Well, in a big surprise performance, Jennifer Holiday and Jessica Sanchez became American Idol’s best act yet. If you’ve made it this far and have watched all the acts on this list, then you’ll probably agree that the real winner of this season was Jessica Sanchez.
