Anyone in need of a correction?

It’s easy to make mistakes when writing, but that’s what spell check is for, right? Unfortunately, as one Upstate New York newspaper found out recently, it turns out that’s not always the case.

The writer was doing a story about Julia Roberts, and actually, the article itself is pretty good, except for one little minor issue that is β€” they left a big gaping “hole” in the headline.

Yes, that’s right, we meant they literally wrote hole in the headline by accident!

It’s a pretty hilarious mistake to make, and sadly for them, it’s also one that spell check would never pick up on. Of course, they intended to write “roles”, but that doesn’t make the error any less funny. We can only imagine that some editor somewhere is getting a huge scolding right now from the higher-ups.

The Internet, on the other hand, instantly fell in love with the story.

Almost immediately after it was published it started going viral on Twitter, and now thousands upon thousands of people are talking about it.

Normally, that is a writer’s dream. However, in this case, not so much.

The newspaper was quick to print a correction for the story, but at that point, it was already too late.

The cat was already out of the bag so they say, and by then, the hole world had already seen it. See what we did there?

While an accidental spell check mishap was one possible explanation, one man on Twitter had another theory:

“Never dictate the headline over the phone,” he says. A great piece of advice. Another one is to never forget your morning coffee. We know that’s when we make most of our make most of our mistakes!

Beneath the headline was an interesting Associated Press story about how Julia Roberts’ movies roles have changed over time.

Her recent acclaimed performances in new movie Ben is Back and Amazon series Homecoming have allowed her to express a darker, more solemn side of her personality in comparison to the romantic-comedies like Pretty Woman she was most famous for in the past. It’s great that she is branching out!

“With age comes more complexity of possible parts,” Roberts said in the interview. “You know, I’m happy and I have fun at home, so it would take a lot for someone to say: ‘Look, you can play this part where you’re happy and have fun.’ Well, I just do that at home!”

Although she is getting older, the 51-year-old award winning actress is showing no signs of slowing down.

Some fans even think that her role in Ben is Back might win her another Oscar.

Since the Academy Awards don’t take place until the end of February it looks like we will just have to wait and see.

In the meantime, however, we can all sit back and enjoy fun humorous mistakes like the “hole” incident that help to make all of our days a little brighter. If it was up to us, we might even give the writer a promotion! It’s not every day that a simple word choice error is able to make us laugh so hard.
