Little Girl's Horse Becomes An Unlikely Champion
Never ever judge a book by its cover.

If you would have told Brian Carsey a few years ago that he would be taking his daughter’s colt to compete in the Ohio Sire Stakes Championship races, he probably would have told you you’re crazy.

If you were to ask him now, though, he would tell you to never underestimate what the faith and love of a child can accomplish.

Since she was just a little girl, 11 year-old Breana Carsey has dreamt of breeding and raising her very own race-horse.

While her father thought in all likelihood that she would outgrow this, he couldn’t keep himself from indulging the hopes of his baby girl.

He purchased a brooding mare for Breana to get started on a dream that, he thought, would eventually burn itself out.

As planned, Breana bred her mare to give birth to the horse she had been hoping for, and she named him MJB Got Faith.

The adorable name stands for the first initial in her and her sister’s names, and “Got Faith” to show her father and the world that no matter what she was told, her horse was a winner!

MJB was born a half-pint, being fairly small in size for his breeding and typically not a good candidate for horse racing.

As MJB got older, Brian figured his daughter would come to the realization that her horse wasn’t meant for the races and eventually sell him, but Breana was having none of it!

In an interview with CBS, he explains his thoughts at the time;

This was a fairytale for her from day 1. We put it off for 5 years almost because we don’t have a farm,so we gotta go rent stalls somewhere.

When talking about the costly routine for training a race horse, Brian was asked why he hadn’t just said “no” to Breana. He explained that Breana knows how to work her dad.

Well, as she’ll tell you, she’s got me wrapped around her finger.

Breana saw MJB differently, and knew her colt had what it takes to be a champion.

Seeing that his daughter was never going to give up on her dream for MJB, Brian resolved to begin training the horse with Breana.

He started teaching him how to run with a harness, but due to his small stature and “poor pedigree” MJB was slow and unsteady.

This only further confirmed Brian’s previous concerns about whether or not his daughter would be able to take the 2-year-old colt to the races.

Resilient as ever though, Breana wasn’t about to give up on her horse. She went ahead and entered MJB into a stakes race

To Brian’s utter astonishment MJB, for all his slowness, won his first race.

For Breana though, she knew this win was only one out of many more to come. The determined young horse breeder entered MJB into a second contest, and third…and a fourth.

Shocking everyone in the equestrian world with 4 straight wins, her Standard Bred horse was going to the Sire Stakes Championship race!

Just as Breana’s faith in the young horse never wavered, neither did MJB’s resolve to make his trainers proud!

The horse kept his pace and form through the entire race, giving everyone present a run for their money.

As MJB was in the lead and came crashing through the finish lap, Breana shrieked in excitement for her underdog champion.

The race was won, and the young girl leaped into her father’s arms for an enormous hug.

Her Daddy just made her dreams come true.

Not only did MJB’s win accomplish a lifelong goal for her, but for her family too.

Every penny, and all of the faith and hard work put into the colt’s training, paid off big-time for the Carsey family.

Breana took home first place and the purse, at $100,000!

The prize money allowed Breana to donate $500,000 to her favorite animal charity, and to invest the other half into establishing the farm this animal-lover has always wanted.

Breana and MJB Got Faith’s story goes to show that with a little faith, and a lot of hard work, any dream can become a reality!
