Rihanna’s 2016 hit single, “Love on the Brain” has been considered by many as a landmark performance that only Rihanna could deliver. With hard-hitting lyrics and a successful blending of classic and contemporary pop sensibilities, it’s hard to imagine anyone but a big name star nailing this moving song. But one YouTube video from Maenzie Thomas’ Covers is here with an excellent cover.

As the music cues up, Kenzie takes in a breath. She’s nervous and is about to tackle one of the biggest pop songs of 2016, and arguably one of the biggest songs from the past few years. there have been many covers before hers, so it’s anyone’s guess how hers will sound.

Then she sings the opening lyrics of the song and it’s absolutely incredible. She hits the high notes, sticks to the melody, and delivers a heart melting performance that has been seen and loved across the Internet.

Every time she reaches the chorus, you can see the passion in her expression as she shuts her eyes and lets the music move through her. When she looks into the camera, you can almost feel that she’s singing this song to you, sharing the pain and warmth of Rihanna’s own experiences with the song’s difficult subject matter.

But one thing’s for sure, if her video on Rihanna’s “Love on the Brain” has anything to say, it’s that Kenzie doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone. She really is that incredible and it’s heartwarming to see.
