It’s one of the most beautiful times of year in the U.S. when the weather gets cooler and nature dazzles us with stunning displays of vivid colors as the leaves have their final hurrah before they fall to the ground.
It’s autumn folks and some places in the U.S. have foliage that will take your breath away.
One of those places is Utah’s Ogden Valley. Drone pilot Justin McFarland used his equipment to capture the mosaic of brilliant colors in Ogden’s foliage.
We’re not sure if the footage was edited but the colors in this foliage are mindblowing.
This place has colors I’ve never even seen before on trees.
Ogden Valley’s foliage has your typical yellows, oranges, reds, and greens.
But it also has pinks and purples, mixed in with sherbert looking color, according to McFarland’s video.
It’s simply incredible.
According to Life Utah Elevated, purple is a pretty common color in Utah foliage.
“Utah is an ideal place to see nature’s paintbrush at play. There are a number of native trees which create brilliant hues of red, orange, yellow, and purple (sometimes all on the same tree!),” the website states. “A cascade of color comes from canyon maple, quaking aspen, scrub oak, Douglas hawthorn, serviceberries, evergreens, and more — each turning in succession.”
Utah exquisite array of bold hues has to do with elevation.
“Utah’s wide array of forests, national parks, and scenic byways are all located at different elevations and receive varying amounts of rainfall. This creates a multitude of peak viewing times throughout the state, so you can come early or late in the season and still spot breathtaking colors.”
The best for fall foliage viewing in Utah is between mid-September and early-October.
“We just had some big rainstorms up here that might have knocked some of the leaves off, but there are a few colors still up there,” McFarland, who captured the footage with a DJI Phantom 4 with a polarized filter, told FOX 13.
The Washington Post reported that while foliage has reached its peak to near-peak in the mountainous west, the progression of color is slower to come as you head east.
