If you have ever tried to cook a steak at home before, you know that this task is no walk in the park. Steak seems to be a lot trickier to cook than poultry or fish. When you overcook a chicken breast for a few minutes, the difference in taste is hardly noticeable. Steak, on the other hand, is a delicate art.

The answer is yes! As it turns out, the extra step of thawing does not improve the flavor of your steak. In fact, the steak will actually taste better if you leave it frozen all the way up until you are ready to cook it. Who knew? The kitchen froze 8 pieces of steak. Next, they thawed half and left the other half frozen until it was ready to be cooked. They expertly prepared all of the steak, then compared flavors and textures. The result? The steak that they never thawed was actually much better. The thawed steak became overcooked on the outer edges – as we have all experienced. The unthawed steak, though, was cooked evenly throughout each piece. Not only that, but the unthawed steak did not lose as much moisture as the thawed steak. There was a clear winner in this contest.
