Pilot takes girlfriend on flight and fakes engine failure in creative proposal
I've always wanted an original proposal but now I'm rethinking that.

For those of you who are planning to propose, how would you?

Some of us might’ve imagined a walk to the beach and then kneeling in front of a beautiful sunset.

Some might’ve considered just having a quiet wine dinner before popping the question as the night grows late.

Others are more creative, though.

The loud ones may be considering an elaborate flash mob. Then there are those who push things to the extreme. One that can actually give you a “no” instead of the most coveted “yes”.

What if you’re an amateur pilot?

Amateur pilot Anthony Bordignon and Katherine Wareham were already together for two years when Bordignon decided to take things to a different level.

That level being around 3,500 feet.

He asked his then-girlfriend Wareham to join him on a flyby.

Now, there are those who are comfortable with their feet off the ground. However, there are also those who might think twice before stepping inside a small plane.

Wareham wasn’t really thrilled about it.

Her brows were meeting in a frown and she also shut her eyes throughout the entire takeoff. We can’t blame her, though.

Not everyone is as confident as Bordignon when it comes to being high up in the air.

When they finally reached cruising altitude, Wareham became a bit more confident and comfortable.

She posed and smiled at their mounted Go-Pro and she even took pictures of the surrounding area. Everything looks amazing from high above after all.

Then, Bordignon staged an anxious flyer’s nightmare.

In the video, you can see Wareham getting more nervous than she already was. She kept looking at Bordingnon who seems to have lost control of the plane.

Then, their plane goes on a series of dives and sways. At one point, he even told Wareham that they might be forced to land in a field.

He tells her to read a checklist.

In aeronautics, planes are equipped with a QRH or a quick reference handbook.

This technical document contains all the procedures a pilot can and should do in emergency conditions.

Wareham reluctantly followed to which Bordignon asked her not to panic.

To make the situation more alarming, Bordignon can be heard relaying the situation to the air traffic control. Wareham began checking things off the list.

At that point, people could already see how they are as a couple. Wareham, even with her anxiety, tried her best to remain calm while she guided Bordignon.

Then, the moment finally came.

“Verify flight ring is engaged,” Wareham read. “Initiate ring engagement process. Follow steps 11 to 14.”

Then, she realized what was happening.

“Does the pilot –“ she read then she quickly interrupted herself. “I hate you!” she then said with a smile on her face and the threat of crying imminent.

“Will the pilot in command love the passenger forever? Check. Will you marry the pilot in command?’ she reads on, but this time she was crying. “Will you marry the pilot in command?”

Bordignon brought out the ring box.

We can only imagine what Wareham was feeling at that moment – stress, anxiety, fear, and finally, overwhelmed with love. All of those all at the same time.

And even with the crazy proposal, Wareham agreed to be a Bordignon. They currently have two kids which Anthony takes with him when he flies.
