“Humanity’s true moral test, its fundamental test…consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals.”― Milan Kundera

We’ve seen so many sad stories of animals being abused and killed, each one horrific and heartbreaking at the same time. This is a story about a dog who has endured so much in life until she was given another chance to live a better life.

Meet Maggie

Maggie was just five years old when she was found tied to a box in Lebanon but that was just the beginning of the horrific truth that the rescuers were to discover. Poor Maggie was dumped on the streets of Lebanon after being shot 17 times using a pellet gun and her ear was cut off. She was also pregnant and now blind from her injuries.

What she went through was more than just horrific but Maggie didn’t give up.

From Lebanon to UK

Wild At Heart Foundation rescued her and treated her wounds. Kasey Carlin, who was 25 at that time heard about Maggie’s story through Wild At Heart Foundation and she knew in an instant that she wanted to take her home.

“This person in Lebanon posted asking for help and a woman in London saw the post and got help. Wild At Heart said they would take her in, even though it’s quite hard to get pets out of Lebanon,” Carlin explained to The Argus.

“My mum saw Maggie’s post and said we had to foster her. I got home and saw the picture and agreed,” Carlin continued.

Before flying to UK, Maggie needed to have a surgery on her eyes. Since her eyes can no longer see and to prevent further infection, they decided to sew her eyes shut.

Once she was ready, Maggie was on her way to her new life.

The Wonder dog

Still, with all the horrors of what she went through, Maggie still showed so much love for people. She was full of hope!

“I was in tears when I met her at the airport,” Carlin remembered their first meeting.

Throw back to 10 months ago when Maggie was known as Angie. At this time she had no toys, no family, no home of her own. • Maggie is a rescue from Lebanon who suffered through more than any creature should have to endure. Maggie was shot and her ear was cut off. She was left on the streets blind and heavily pregnant. • Maggie was saved because of one act of kindness. A local animal rescuer picked her up off the streets. He cared for as best he could. Her pregnancy was terminated and she was neutered. She was fed and safe but her life changed because of all the other acts of kindness from complete strangers. Her British rescuer, her charity @wild_at_heart_foundation , the countless people that donated…. each little thing led to the life that Maggie has now. • Maggie’s adoption journey is over but that doesn’t mean we stop helping. We’ve been given the opportunity to pay it forward and do something kind in the same way others did for our Maggie Moo. So tomorrow, I would like to introduce you to our new foster dog. If you would like to be a part of her success story, there will be a link in our bio where you can read about her and donate if you feel compelled to. • I hope you feel inspired to spread kindness wherever you are in the world. After all… kindness is free! You never know what your one act of kindness can do for others. Actions have knock on effects! Buying a coffee for the homeless person on the street. donating your old blankets to a animal shelter. Mowing your elderly neighbors lawn. Let’s make the world a little bit brighter. #bemoremaggie • • • #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinsta #rescuedog #rescuedogs #rescuedogsrule #rescuedogsrock #rescuedogsofig #dogrescue #rescuedogsrocknyc #rescuedogsofinstagram #rescuedogsarethebestdogs #rescuedogsarethebest #rescuedoglove #rescuedoglife #rescuedogmom #rescuedogofinstagram #rescuedogsarebest #disabledpets #disabledbutnotreally #disableddog #disableddogs #differentlyabled #specialneeds #specialneedspets #specialneedsdogs #specialneedsdog #specialneedsdogsofinstagram

Carlin also shared to The Argus that when people saw Maggie, the first thing that they would ask was, why was she not put down? Some people even question her quality of life now that she doesn’t have eyes and doesn’t have one ear.

“I’ve never met a dog like Maggie. She’s just brilliant. She’s so energetic and bubbly. She walks off the lead and follows me around,” Carlin happily describing Maggie’s personality.

“She must have been in agony with all she’s been through, but she never hurt anyone and she’s so loving,”

Carlin continued and she also said that when these people see just how happy and loving Maggie is, they finally understand.

Today, this beautiful dog is an inspiration to everyone. She has her own social media pages and currently almost 300k followers on Instagram.
