A beautiful horse named Storm has recently become one of the Internet’s favorite horses thanks largely in part to her luscious blonde mane. She is certainly unlike any horse we’ve ever seen before.
Her fans on Instagram have even started calling her Rapunzel, in reference to the fairy tale of the same name — “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair…”
She definitely has the long flowing blonde locks part covered.
Storm is a Haflinger mare, a breed is well known for having long manes.
However, even for Haflingers, the length of Storm’s hair is out of the ordinary. It has now grown to more than three feet in the length over the course of the last six years. Storm is currently 8-years-old.
Her human, Naomi Beckers, purchased her from her previous owner after she saw pictures of the horse online and was impressed by her glamorous locks.
That was around two years ago, and Storm’s hair has been growing and growing ever since.
“I met Storm’s owner on Instagram, and I was amazed by Storm’s mane,” the 24-year-old from Eindhoven, Netherlands told the Daily Mail.
“Some Haflingers do have wavy hair, which is often most visible when they are still young and have shorter manes. However as their manes grow longer their waves usually straighten, unlike their tails which often stay wavy throughout their life,” said Beckers.
The fact that Storm’s mane has remained blonde and wavy into adulthood makes her one of a kind.
“When Storm was about three years old she already had manes that passed her shoulder – from that point on they were no longer cut and always kept in braids to protect them.'”
While it seems Beckers and the horse both have the same hairstyle currently, it is unclear who copied who. Truth be told, they both look fantastic. Someone needs to get us the number of their stylist!
They really are quite the photogenic duo, and together they have quickly accrued a huge number of fans.
Their joint Instagram page currently has over 36 thousand followers.
In an interview with Bit Magazine, Beckers elaborated on their new found fame:
“I was planning to post a few pictures on it [Storm’s Instagram] from time to time, but people kept asking me when I would post another photo,” Beckers said.
“It is actually a bit out of control, but I think it is very nice that it has grown so much!”
Together, there is no telling how big their page will get. We imagine that as long as Storm’s hair keeps growing, so will their follower count. Everyone knows that people on the Internet can’t resist liking those cute animal photos.
There are currently almost 250,000 Haflinger horses worldwide, but there is only one Storm.
