We are all interconnected, even though it might not seem like it. There is some invisible link that bonds all of us together, and sometimes honoring that connection is the best thing we can do for our souls.

On the surface, it seems like the world is comprised of individuals who are very different from one another. We each like our own style of music, clothing, and home decor. We like different foods, different colors, and different smells. Sometimes people behave so differently from us that we feel we are in completely different worlds.

But the reality is that we are all human. We all want to give and receive love, and we all crave intimate connections. We are one big meshwork of consciousness, and this interconnectivity allows us to experience emotions and events that seem supernatural.

Even big stars like Andy Grammer can feel a unique bond with ordinary people, and in fact one morning this link revealed itself in the most unexpected way. The celebrity was having breakfast at the Sea Ketch restaurant in Hampton Beach when a group of women pulled on his heartstrings.

He looked up from his plate of food to see five “SUPER CUTE” elderly women sharing a meal together. They laughed and reminisced, immersed in their own lives. They had no idea that a star was in the same restaurant, let alone that he would notice them out of all the groups there.

But as Andy watched this group of women, something changed inside of him. He suddenly felt an overwhelming rush of emotions, just from looking at them. He had previously lost his mother, and watching these seniors share breakfast reminded him of the woman he had lost.

The singer felled compelled to act. He wanted to do something kind, so he used a little of his wealth to cover their meal. Andy did this in secret, since he didn’t believe in bragging about doing something kind.

“I felt a strong urge to pick up their check,” Andy explained on Facebook. “I don’t know them and didn’t want to bother them but I just did it.”

Yet after the meal was paid, he felt another inclination.

Andy simply couldn’t stop thinking about these women and how they reminded him of his mom. He missed her so much, and he thought that maybe sharing that with them would brighten their day, if only a little. So he ignored his fears about interrupting their meal and walked over to their table.

“A lot of times it’s better to just do nice deeds without asking for acknowledgment but something felt like I should tell them I missed my mom, like they might like to hear that. So I walked over and said ‘You are five of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever seen. I lost my mom a while back and something about seeing you made me miss her this morning so I’m getting your check.'”

The women were super grateful, but it wasn’t their thanks that stood out in Andy’s mind. One woman from the group immediately stood up and told him, “COME HERE. I lost my son and really needed this.”

She stretched out her arms, and the two locked in a warm embrace. Andy got the mom hug he had missed so much, and this woman got to give motherly love one last time. Somehow these strangers found each other right when they needed someone to lean on.

“We are all so connected,” Andy wrote.

The women felt this unspoken bond as well, and they had a sense that something above their own comprehension had taken place. “Your mom sent you to us today,” wrote Mary Conant, one of the women who had been sitting at the table.

These people hadn’t expected to meet each other when they headed out to breakfast that morning, but the world works in mysterious ways. We are all connected in more ways than we could possibly understand, and Andy’s story sheds a little light on that mysterious world of compassion and camaraderie.
