Pizza. The one word that draws smiles and sends minds imagining about the mouth watering delight. Who doesn’t like pizza? Who doesn’t eat pizza? Are they even from this planet? It is a favorite across all ages and races, and no one would refuse a slice when offered. If they do, they’re not human.

Italy’s greatest gift to the world that has satisfied many generations.

Every restaurant, every chef, cook, every home has attempted to make pizza. There are no restrictions and every one has their own take on this dish.

Sara O’Donnell is a food blogger, recipe developer, and video producer. She is known as Average Betty. Her website and YouTube channel contain recipes that anyone with a kitchen can do. This is her crock pot pizza.

She asks on her channel if you can cook pizza in a slow cooker and already we’re interested.

Sara actually starts off and says she’s not sure if it will work. But she proceeds to prepare the dough. This lady is really honest and says that if you’re being real and want to make pizza in a slow cooker, you probably won’t mess around making dough from scratch. Hers is ready made albeit with a few patch ups here and there.

Snobs and purists may complain about this but pizza lovers only care about the flavors.

Once her dough is “all better”, she sprinkles a little cornmeal underneath the crust. It’s her personal reference but if it’s good for her then chances are it’s good for us. Sara rolls out her dough and admits she’ll probably have to trim it a little to make it fit in her pot.

She spreads just a little bit of oil and layers her sling made out of parchment paper. It’s to help lift that pizza out when it’s done.

There’s no hard or fast rule with pizza and even Sara hints at that.

A bit more cornmeal and she lays the dough inside. A little finesse is called for and she cuts a bit off from the edges then proceeds with a nip and tuck. She goes on to layer the dough with tomato sauce and cheese. Lots of cheese.

“Use as much as you like.”

Sounds good to us, Sara!

Put whatever you like on your pizza.

Sara is going for classic pepperoni only because she’s going for that “look” of a pizza in her crock pot. But she says go ahead and use whatever toppings you want.

She’s not wrong about that pizza look we all know and love.

She covers the pot with the lid and after an hour, lifts it to wipe the moisture off and proceeds to give the viewers a glimpse of her pizza. It looks fantastic. And it’s not yet done!

Sara gives it another 30 minutes and… “I think this is done.”

Sara went by feel and did not follow the usual 2-3 hours of cooking in a pot.

With her parchment slings, she slowly lifts the pizza up and out of the pot and onto her cutting board. It is beautifully golden with the red of the pepperoni providing a stunning contrast to it.

She cuts it up and,

“Pretty crunchy! Holy moly!”

With a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese from her really big grater, she lifts up a slice and you can hear that crunch as she bites in to it. Toss some here!
