During the 1970s and into the 1980s, line dancing was all the rage. While it quieted down, it’s now more popular than ever. With this, strangers can hit the dance floor and do the same moves as if they’ve known each other for years.

Some historians believe line dancing started in the 19th century when it was more of a folk-like dance that settlers enjoyed doing. As for the songs, these too have evolved to what you hear today…country music with a modern twist.

What’s line dancing?

Think of this dance style like a choreographed dance. Although there are different styles of line dancing, once you learn them, you can perform along with other people and look like a pro.

The great Alan Jackson

Jackson might be shy, even uncomfortable on stage to a certain degree, but his music is undeniably great. He loves what he does and it shows in every performance. And his songs are ideal for line dancing, especially his classic hit, “Chattahoochee.”

Staring off

These dancers get right to it the minute the song starts. They tap their feet and then go into a more traditional line dancing move of back heel kicks. That’s followed by a couple of claps of their hands and then into some hip swivels.
