A trip to Walmart can bring just about anything. There are people from all walks of life there who you could run into. So, really nothing should shock you.
But, one little boy surely turned some heads in his local Walmart in Harrisburg, Illinois.
It wasn’t for acting out or throwing a tantrum or anything like that.
He was actually doing something pretty cool and out of the ordinary.
He decided to belt out a few tunes in front of shoppers. But, he wasn’t just singing…he was yodeling.
Yep, we said yodeling.
Meet Mason Ramsey.
Adorned in his jeans, white shirt, belt, bowtie, and boots, he just stood there in Walmart yodeling his little heart away. You don’t see many people do this, never mind many kids do this, especially at Walmart.
He not only stopped people with their carts in Walmart, but he’s captured the hearts of people all over the internet. Since this video was posted just over two years ago, more than 75 million people have viewed it. It appears they just can’t get enough of this two-minute yodeling video and little Mason.
In about the middle of the video, he really starts to get into it. He’s tapping his feet and feeling the yodeling beat!
This is certainly one way to pass the time while you’re waiting to check out. While Mason has done this before, I’m sure there’s a new audience every time. He must be the talk of the town. Listening to him yodel certainly beats the alternative of reading the tabloids in the checkout line!
Mason’s yodeling has certainly captured the internet’s attention with many people commenting on his singing talents.
Here’s just a sample of what they have to say:
“Yodeling is not easy. Extremely impressive!”
“He’s got such a nice voice.”
“The best part of this video is, this kid could have been recorded yodeling in any other place possible. But the fact that it was in Walmart, makes it a piece of art.”
Little Mason’s yodeling ways even got the attention of talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. She had Mason on her show shortly after his yodeling video went viral. Even Ellen could see that there was something special about this little boy.
Besides talking to him, Ellen also had him perform on her show two years ago. That’s quite a different stage from Walmart!
When Ellen asked him why he chose to sing at Walmart, he simply said that’s because it’s the only store they have. He says he’s sung at Walmart a lot…50 million times to be exact!
While we’re sure that was an exaggeration, you can tell this wasn’t his first rodeo in aisle 12. He seems completely comfortable as he’s randomly singing for everyone. He’s certainly not a shy kid.
While he’s taking Walmart and the internet by storm, Mason says his dream is to sing at the Grand Ole Opry. While that’s a long way to go, he’s certainly on his way!
