We’ve seen so many types of home-makeover shows here and there, and mostly the reveal is the most exciting part of the show.
It’s always good to see the surprised and happy reactions of the homeowners when they finally see the finished work that the make-over team has done.
However, there is this one video from 2015 that has resurfaced, bringing hilarious comments and reactions from the Internet. It’s a video from BBC One’s home improvement show “Your Home in Their Hands,” and the homeowner’s brutally honest reaction to their bedroom “makeover” will definitely leave you laughing as well.
Thanks to Twitter user @plinketyplink2 who uploaded the video and described it as “Still the best reaction to a house makeover ever”. The Internet loved the hilarious clip so much that her tweet went viral! It has since been liked over 44,000 times and has been re-tweeted 8,000 times!
Now, some people are great when it comes to hiding their true feelings. Most of the time, they would put on a fake smile and hide what they really feel so they won’t hurt the feelings of other people. To them, it’s being polite, but for some, there’s nothing wrong with being true to yourself and being honest.
John Geoghegan is definitely not one of those people who’d fake a reaction. John and his partner, Rachel were featured in BBC One’s show called “Your Home in Their Hands,” and the video starts as they were welcomed back into their home.
You can clearly see how nervous they were about the makeover that was done with their home. When they saw their living room, they said that they were actually very pleased with the results. For them, it looked very different, but they loved it.
Then, the show’s host Celia Sawyer invited them to their newly decorated bedroom. She said that she hopes that they will also love what was done to their bedroom.
Their reactions changed instantly!
In the hilarious video, Celia Sawyer takes the couple into their new bedroom – and instantly, the couple’s reaction changed into a mix of disappointment and disbelief.
Then, the camera focuses on the bedroom, and we clearly understood why they looked like that. The couple’s bedroom now has floral wallpaper, bright yellow paint, blue furniture pieces, and some other accessories that didn’t quite fit.
Rachel, despite her honest facial reaction, was still quite polite about her overall opinion but, John didn’t have time to pretend. He clearly didn’t hold back!
It’s definitely not what they expected. When the host asked John, he simply said:
“I don’t like it. For me it’s too busy. I wouldn’t have done anything like it and I don’t like it”.
The mix of colors, the design, the accessories to the overall concept seemed like a total mess, and he knows it!
“You’re supposed to be able to go to sleep in a bedroom and it’s like a kids play area,” John explains to the host of the show.
John’s partner, Rachel, still tries her best to point out all the positive that she can see in the room, though her facial reaction doesn’t seem to agree.
She said that the bed and wardrobe looked nice, and they got the color that she wanted.
“I think it looks horrendous and it doesn’t look anything like a bedroom,” John answers Rachel.
“So sorry, but it’s a big thumbs down from me. It’s hideous.”
People have also noticed how the host tried to persuade Rachel into insisting that she likes it, even instigating that John is trying to talk on her behalf.
Then, the host confirms if Rachel thinks the same. Again, the sweet lady tries her best to look into the positive side of the overall makeover while seemingly trying to convince her partner and even herself that they’ll grow to like it.
John stays firm with his thoughts, and we love how he’s brutally honest about it. He replies with a short “not for long” message, and it was hilarious! This guy is really honest, and that’s what we love about him!
Finally, Celia then asks John what he wants to tell the designer of the room, to which he coldly replies:
“Don’t touch the other room.”
The Internet loved John’s honesty, and how he was fearless in letting them all know that he was not pleased.

“I like that lad. Taking no sh*t, even when the presenter was getting all ‘stop telling your wife what to say’, he stood his ground. His missus obvs didn’t like it. She had a face on her like a smacked a*se!”
Another said:
“I’m not convinced she likes it either like she looks super skeptical and the host keeps talking over both of them like.”
Another one was able to see through the wife’s polite gesture and said:
“You can tell the woman doesn’t like it herself. She’s just feeling the pressure from the presenter and doesn’t want to sound rude. The fella is having absolutely none of it though and is just saying it how it is.”
Clearly, most of the people who saw the design didn’t like it too, and this man’s brutally honest reaction is something that we’d probably do if we were in his shoes.
