Service dogs are incredible, smart animals who can help with a wide variety of tasks. Some work as police dogs and keep their communities safe. Others act as therapy dogs and provide comfort through cuddles, like the sweet dogs in this video.
While service dogs are able to do tons of amazing things, it takes a lot of training to get them to that stage. And like with any job, there’s always a first day where you’re not quite sure what you’re doing yet. In the case of service dogs, though, this first day is often adorable because it involves puppies! 1. Too Heavy
Teddy must get used to wearing his harness, but it’s a bit too new for him right now! If Teddy is going to be a seeing-eye dog he will have to get used to being right-side up while wearing the harness. Maybe tomorrow he will get it!
2. Safety First
The Brimfield Police Department understands the importance of wearing a bulletproof vest while on the job. This puppy in training is going to have to grow into his vest! His face is determined and already taking his position seriously!
3. Study Up
This puppy knows the importance of studying for the job and he is studying hard! If the test was graded in adorableness, this puppy would get 100%.
4. Long Day
It was a long day of training for this future service dog. Training can be exhausting and this puppy needed a well-deserved nap. He fell completely asleep before he even left the training building!
5. Zuma
Zuma’s trainer is madly in love already. This puppy won over his trainer on the first day, their training is going to a love fest. Zuma just needs a quick nap before getting back to it.
6. Happy Tuco
Tuco is excited to start training in the K-9 Unit. Tuco could not hide his excitement or his tongue from hanging outside his mouth. Tuco is ready to take on the streets of Boston!
7. Mo’s First Day
Mo’s first day at the Manchester Police Department went off great. This German Shepherd is ready to hang with the big boys. Good luck Mo!
8. Future Guide Dog
This future guide dog is training hard for his duties. He cannot wait to grow up and become best friends with his future companion, but until then he has more training to finish.
9. New Recruit
This canine is the new recruit for the K-9 division. They had to take a picture to send show off the utter cuteness. This puppy is ready to get his training started from the very first day, what a good boy.
10. Xxcalliber
Xxcalliber has started his training with the United States Air Force. Xxcalliber has two x’s at the beginning of his name because USAF trained dogs all have the first letter in their name be doubled to be identified as a USAF trained puppy.
11. Cuddle Session
If service puppies need someone, or something, to cuddle up with on their downtime. It cannot be work all the time! This guide puppy in training is cuddled up with his stuffed animal during his nap time. Our hearts are melting at the cuteness overload.
12. Head Tilt
This little guy does not know the intense training he is about to begin. He has always leaned on his good looks up until this point, but now the hard work has to start. He will be up the challenge, we just know it.
13. Do I Have To?
This puppy’s face is not too excited and this police officer is in for a lot of begging his new partner. It is almost as if the cop is telling the puppy,
“STOP RESISTING… all my cuddles!”
14. Comfort Dogs
Some service animals are solely there to provide comfort to people in need. Luther and Isaiah are pros in comforting people. They stopped by their local high school and were the perfect comfort dogs. After a long day of comforting everyone else, the little guy needed comfort of his own.
