For Jen Larsen and her mother, Donna Edmonds, buying a home was the best decision that they had agreed on.

Because of the pandemic, many establishments decided to increase rent, and this year, Larsen and Edmonds’ rents were next.

“My mom and I decided to buy a house together about two months ago because both of our rents were going to go up dramatically, about $500 apiece,” said Jen Larsen in her interview with Fox 5 Las Vegas.

Even though they had a hard time producing the money, they were excited for the new chapter of their lives.

Larsen has three adorable kids who would love to play in their soon-to-be four-bedroom, three-bathroom home.

“We scrimped and scraped the two of us to get this and we were so excited,” said Donna Edmonds, Larsen’s mother

They closed the deal for the 2,700+ square foot house that they found on Leadville Meadows Drive. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, and the house was big!

It was their dream home until the situation turned into a nightmare.

Larsen explained that the seller asked a huge favor from them. They asked if they could have another seven days to completely vacant the home.

The previous owner explained that they needed the money to move out. Of course, Larsen understood their situation and said yes. She made sure that this agreement was included in their closing document.

What they didn’t expect was that, in those seven days, someone else moved into their home and won’t leave.

Larsen’s deed for their home clearly shows a closing date of March 4. Unfortunately, it has been a month, but the women never got the chance to move in.

They have the documents, and by law, it was their home.

“I can’t eat. I can’t sleep. It’s been really, really stressful,” Edmonds said in her interview, teary-eyed.

Who wouldn’t feel this way? You worked so hard to produce the money, and now you can’t even move into your home?

The FOX5 reported got a copy of the said eviction notice and went to the home to get the other side of the story.

There were lights inside, but no one answered.

Just as they were leaving, someone else pulled in. A blue truck with a bicycle pulled into the home’s driveway.

Kim Passoth, the reporter for Fox5, went to them to ask about the home.

Kim Passoth: Hi there, are you staying in this home?

Man: No, I’m not.

Kim Passoth: You are not staying in this home?

Man: No.

Kim Passoth: Are you just visiting?

Man: Yes. Thanks, I don’t want to be on camera.

Kim Passoth: Because the people who own this home say the people who live here are squatting here.

The woman accompanying the man from the blue truck sent an email to Fox5.

She said that she is the one occupying the house and has every right to do so. She claims that she has a legal lease from the previous owner, and it runs until July 2.

The people from the news channel asked for a copy, but until now, no file has been sent.

“Me and my kids are going to be homeless or have to figure it out, I guess. Meanwhile, this woman is living in our home that we paid for… she has been living there for free. We haven’t received a dime from anybody,” Larsen shared.

It was heartbreaking to see that a family is having a hard time moving into the home they purchased and own.

Until today, there are no reports or updates with regard to the squatter who’s been living in Larsen’s home.
